Baitman’s Institute is an independent online media and education project designed to help people think critically in the modern age of information overload.
While the site uses a satirical and humorous style, our underlying mission is serious:
to help readers recognize misinformation, evaluate sources, and become more confident in navigating online claims, especially those related to health, science, and technology.
What We Do
Baitman’s Institute creates and curates content across four categories:
Health & Wellness: Examining the wild claims behind supplements, influencers, and viral health trends.
Climate & Tech: Looking at modern myths around energy, AI, and environmental doom.
Social Thinking: Breaking down the psychology of conspiracies, clickbait, and cognitive bias.
Research Education: Offering a free online course that teaches how to evaluate sources and “do your own research” responsibly.
Is This Satire?
Yes, but it’s satire with a purpose.
Baitman’s Institute blends humor, parody, and real-world insight to expose how easily misinformation spreads online, as well as the dangers of AI generated nonsense.
We believe that even casual internet users should have access to the tools needed to think critically and avoid being manipulated and grifted.
Who’s Behind This?
Baitman’s Institute was an idea back in the early 2010’s while in college. The idea was interesting, but the notion of spending hours creating fake research papers wasn’t exactly plausible at the time. Then a decade later came AI slop. This was also a fun and inconsequential way to learn coding for other more serious projects.
We are now just a small group of creative professionals, educators, and designers who care about information literacy and media awareness. We are also very keen on showing the ridiculousness and dangers of AI slop and misinformation in this day and age, and this is our satirical approach to exposing it.
